ADHD Assessment for Children and Adolescents

At Neurofocus, our ADHD assessments for children and adolescents follow the National Clinical Programme Guidelines, while also exploring emotional wellbeing and cognitive functioning. Each assessment is carried out by a Senior Clinical Psychologist with specialist experience in working with young people.

What to Expect

Step 1: Intake Forms

Before the first appointment, we’ll send parents forms to complete. These cover family history, developmental milestones, medical background, socialisation, motor skills and more. This information helps us build a full picture of your child’s strengths and challenges.

Step 2: Screening Measures

You’ll receive child-appropriate screening questionnaires assessing symptoms, social behaviour, and emotional wellbeing to support diagnostic clarity.

Step 3: Submit Previous Reports

If your child has had previous assessments or school-based reports, please email them to us as they can offer valuable insights during assessment.

Step 4: Conners Rating Scales

We’ll send secure links to complete the Conners Rating Scales—one for parents and one for another adult who knows the child well (e.g. teacher or relative). These help measure the severity of symptoms relative to others of the same age and gender.

Step 5: Clinical Assessment with Your Child

Your child will attend a clinic session where we explore their symptoms in more depth and assess for co-occurring concerns like anxiety or mood difficulties. We’ll also assess cognitive skills like working memory, which are often affected by ADHD.

Step 6: Parent Interview (DIVA)

In a separate session, parents will take part in a structured ADHD diagnostic interview (DIVA) to explore symptom history and impact across settings.

Step 7: Feedback Session

We’ll arrange a personalised feedback session—online or by phone—to discuss the results of the assessment and answer any questions.

Step 8: Personalised Diagnostic Report

You’ll receive a detailed report outlining: Clinical and diagnostic findings, Educational and therapeutic recommendations, Tailored resources and next steps for your child.

Step 9: Medical Referral (if appropriate)

Where medical treatment is recommended, we can refer you to a Consultant for further discussion. Please note: Not all Consultants accept private ADHD diagnoses, even if they follow best-practice guidelines.

How much does it cost?

Our fee is €1100 – This includes around 7 hours of psychological assessment, interpretation, and report writing.
Partial coverage may be available through certain health insurance providers.
